Scanning
NeoDocs
uses scanning from either a TWAIN client or by using scanned images from another
device which are passed to a NeoDocs process. You may want to use scanning alone
for turning paper documents into electronic documents that can be retrieved easily.
To complete
the loop of documents going out from you company, you can also scan incoming documents.
These scanned documents can be stored in a variety of formats and are linked to
the original outgoing document as an 'associated document'.
For example, you can print
invoices where the invoice contains a barcode of the invoice number. The customer
signs the invoice and it is returned to your office where it is scanned into AMS.
Then the original invoice and the associated document can be viewed at the same
time using the AMS web viewer.
NeoDocs AMS reads the barcode
on the scanned image to associate the documents together. This does not require
any special hardware as the Neodocs AMS software handles both the barcode reading
as well saving the image in the type you require. Some of the types are pdf, jpeg,
bmp, tiff, multi tiff plus more. There are many types of barcodes that can be read
and barcodes can be read in any direction on the page.
NeoDocs also has OCR ability. So documents
can be scanned and OCR'd. The data can be used for further processing, like updating
a database while the image is converted into a pdf with the text so that it is searchable.
